Kyle
Kyle, Texas is a fun little spot just south of Austin that’s been growing fast but still keeps its small-town charm. If you're into sports or just want to get active, Gregg-Clarke Park is the go-to place. It’s got fields for baseball, soccer, football, tennis courts, and even trails if you feel like taking a walk or jog. Kyle also runs community sports leagues—think kickball, softball, and even inline hockey—so there’s always something going on.
One of the coolest things about Kyle is that it’s officially the Pie Capital of Texas. That’s not just a catchy title—they take it seriously! The city throws the annual Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival every Labor Day weekend. It’s a blast: hot air balloons, pie-eating contests, pie-baking contests, live music, and tons of fun for families and foodies alike. It’s definitely one of those “only in Kyle” experiences you’ve got to see (and taste) for yourself.
If you’re looking for more off-the-wall stuff to do, check out Unchartered Adventures, where you can smash stuff in a rage room or throw axes like a lumberjack. There’s also the County Line Polo Club if you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at polo—yes, on horseback! It’s not something you find in every Texas town, that’s for sure.
Nature lovers will dig Five Mile Dam Park along the Blanco River. It’s a great place to cool off, have a picnic, or just relax in the Texas sun. And if you’re into history, Kyle has a few cool spots like the Katherine Anne Porter House, the childhood home of the famous author, and the local Railroad Museum that gives you a peek into the town’s past. Whether you're into pies, polo, or just chilling by the river, Kyle’s got a little something for everyone.
